How to Measure Your Pond Liner
Choosing the right pond liner and underlayment is the foundation of any water garden or koi pond build. Start with three numbers: the length, width, and depth of your pond at their longest, widest, and deepest points. Then use this simple formula: add twice the depth plus two feet to both the length and the width. A pond that is 10 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 2 feet deep needs a liner that is at least 16 x 14 feet. The extra two feet on each side gives you enough overlap to anchor the edges securely.
For underlayment, cut it to the same size as your liner and lay it down first to protect against rocks and roots. The Pond Shop carries high quality 45 mil EPDM pond liner suited for water gardens, koi ponds, streams, and decorative waterfalls.
